The inner peace I've found over the last few years and a deep love for my two girlies create 'wonderful' for me day after day.

good to have a mom

Every once in a while I have to give myself a little credit for you two wonderful girls...and since it's my birthday today, I thought today was a good day to do just that :)

M's puppy/hawkeye party

We had a great day yesterday, celebrating  Makenna's 3rd birthday!  A month or so ago, Makenna told me she wanted a Puppy (and Kitty Party, 'because I like both of them').  Then, last weekend you watched the Iowa/Iowa State game with your dad and realized how fun it is to be a Hawkeye fan -- afterall, you get to eat snacks and yell at the TV, what could be better?!

Here are a few pics from your big day :)  Love you, punkin!

Mom made you a puppy cake.  You insisted on a Pink cake mix.
(new purse and jewelry!)
All of your cousins and big sis were there to help you celebrate!

Someone is turning 3 tomorrow!

Little Makenna...Mak...Mackie...Ken....Kenna...Macaroni...MakTator...Sis...Sissy...Little Sis...(and up until tomorrow, 'Lil 2 year old)....child of a thousand nicknames.
Sweet as pie...most of the time.
You love your big sissy, your mom and dad, and your dog Blue.

Your love your stuffed animals and your bed is always full of stuffed animals and books.  You are learning so much and getting so smart.  You know all of your colors and shapes.  You are even learning Kindergarten everyday words right along with your big sis :)
Happy Birthday - We love you Miss Makenna!

Attitude of GratitudeYou cannot be both angry and grateful at the same time. Start counting the blessings and miracles in your life, start looking for them and you shall find more. What’s there not to be grateful? You are alive and breathing! Realize how lucky you are and all the abundance in your life.

true, but...

I'm not sure how I exactly feel about this one...It's true and I do it more often than I think I should -- faking a smile when I'm upset, angry or sad.  As I'm getting older, I think it's better to let people know how you really think/feel...thoughts to ponder.

work hard and be nice

I learned this from Grandpa Gary.  I think it's one of the most important things in life.  And I still need to remind myself of the latter more often than I would like.

Someone is turning 5!

Miss A, you turn 5 years old tomorrow!

You are having a My Little Pony Party tomorrow at Jester Park.  Your favorite is Pinky Pie, the pink one.  I am planning to make you a layered pink and sprinkle cake and put a little Pinky Pie on the top...hopefully it goes a little better than last year's sand castle cake.  Although you remember that cake and asked me to make you a castle cake this year!
The photo above was all you :)  You picked out the shirt and wanted to wear the glasses -- I happily snapped the pictures.  You enjoy dress-up and this summer we usually find you in a skirt or a dress for at least past of the day.
This photo is exactly you at this age.  You love to laugh and your sweet smile is infectious...I remember when you were much younger Grandma Twila said, "This kids just loves to laugh."  And I think that is a great way to describe your happy and carefree demeanor.

You opened your gifts from us tonight before supper and you got a scooter from us.  You were riding all over the living room and then put it near the kitchen while we sat down to eat.  Half way through the meal you said, "I can't stop thinking about my scooter, can I please move it [so I can't see it]?"  Too. cute.

You are smart as a whip, sweet as chocolate, kind and a great big sister.  You can do absolutely anything you set your mind to.  We love you, sweetie!  Mom
